Summary

This is a comprehensive handbook that covers all aspects of the assessment and management of patients in the resuscitation room of an Emergency Department. It is aimed at an array of different specialists, covering a range of experiences, and is presented in a logical and easily referencedformat. A Resuscitation Room Guide provides practical guidance and background information on the initial care of the acutely ill patient when they first arrive at hospital. Basic principles of safe practice are emphasised, and relevant details for a wide range of emergency conditions are easilyaccessed. Descriptions of equipment and practical procedures are given along with the purpose and interpretation of tests and investigations. The book will undoubtedly act as a valuable reference tool for staff who are routinely involved with the care of patients in the resuscitation situation, and will be an essential guide for newly qualified doctors working in the Accident and Emergency department.
