Summary

Rooted Sorrows: Psychoanalytic Perspectives on Child Protection, Assessment, Therapy and Treatment is a unique collection of essays, drawn largely from the papers of the seminal conference held at Dartington Hall in 1995. The conference sought to assess the role, impact and importance of child psychology and psychoanalysis on the outcome of child protection cases.
The distinguished panel of contributors, including senior Family Court judges and leading experts in child psychology, set out both the theoretical background to child psychology and the use of such expert evidence in family court practice. Case histories illustrate each contributors own experiences in practice and demonstrate how such experiences can influence professional approaches to this difficult area.
