Author Biography

Playwright/lyricist W. S. GILBERT (1836-û1911) and composer ARTHUR SULLIVAN (1842-û1900) defined comic operas in Victorian England with their internationally successful and timeless works known as the Savoy Operas.

MIKE LEIGH is the Academy Award-û winning director of Topsy-Turvy, which examines Gilbert and Sullivan-'s world at the time of the original productions of Princess Ida and The Mikado. He is vice president of the Sir Arthur Sullivan Society.

ED GLINERT has annotated two volumes of Sherlock Holmes stories for Penguin Classics.
