Author Biography

Dana Smith-Mansell is a published writer, poet, and artist residing in Pennsylvania with her husband Rob, terrier trio, and cat. She has illustrated children's book covers and titles, complete self-help titles, and continues to illustrate some of her own children's and adult titles. Her poems and essays have appeared in print and on the web, and she has received Honorable Mentions for her poetry. Her first children's book, Stop Bullying Bobby! was released in November 2004. Dana is a contracted poet and artist for Ancient Wind Press Publications. Select pieces of her art are available at All Things Good, Pottsville, Pennsylvania. Her twenty-three years of experience working with children and families with special needs inspire her writing and illustration. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and a Master's Degree in Behavior disorders. Dana has been a volunteer for Hospice (children and adults), participates in Pet Therapy, and Scottish Terrier and West Highland Terrier Rescue. She is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, a full member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and a member of the Schuylkill County Historical Society. Dana enjoys all aspects of creating-whether it be writing, poetry, drawing, or simply looking out the window and watching nature, in her back yard.
