Author Biography

Anthony Savarese was born and raised on Hilton Head Island and continues to make his home there. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Winthrop University and a Master's Degree from University of South Carolina. He is a local Science teacher and Master Naturalist.
Anthony wrote this book for the purpose of educating the tourists and guests who visit The Sea Pines Forest Preserve. He has worked as a captain on the H2O Sports Nature Tour in The Sea Pines Forest Preserve since 2007. His passion for the preservation of nature and the education of the next generation motivated him to write this book. He hopes to help people of all ages appreciate the natural world and encourage them to learn about the many living things that make their home within The Sea Pines Forest Preserve. As Hilton Head Island and the surrounding area develop and more human activity infringes upon the wildlife of The Low Country, the importance of areas like The Sea Pines Forest Preserve grows. These critical resources of land and natural habitat help ensure that the native species have room to flourish and reproduce. Anthony is committed to helping ensure that wildlife and human beings can live in harmony with one another.
