NATO

NATO has many European and global partner countries. The political and military utility of all these partnerships is clear; they "provide' more security than they 'consume." But the utility for NATO of partners also changes over time. This book scrutinizes these partnerships, both from a NATO perspective and from that of its partners.

Hkan Edstrm is Lecturer and Researcher at the Norwegian Defence University College, and Lieutenant Colonel in the Swedish Army. He is also Senior Researcher at Maastricht University, the Netherlands. Janne Haaland Matlary is Professor of International Politics at the Department of Political Science, University of Oslo, and the Norwegian Defence University College, Norway, and former State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Norway (1997-2000). Magnus Petersson is Senior Research Fellow at the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies, and former Research Fellow, Director of Studies, and Head of Research and Development at the Swedish National Defence College.
