Author Biography

Eric H. Kossof, MD: Associate Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics at The Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Kossoff is also the Director of the Pediatric Neurology Residency Program at The Johns Hopkins University. He is a co-author of Treatment of Pediatric Neurologic Disorders and The Ketogenic Diet, Fourth Edition. Dr. Kossoff is the editor of “Keto News” on epilepsy.com. John M. Freeman, MD: Lederer Professor Emeritus of Pediatric Epilepsy and Professor of Neurology and Pediatrics, The Johns Hopkins University. In 1969, he created and assumed directorship of the Johns Hopkins Child Neurology Program. In recognition of his numerous contributions and efforts in "perfecting and championing the ketogenic diet", The Johns Hopkins University renamed their epilepsy center The John M. Freeman Center for Pediatric Epilepsy 2002. He has written nearly 150 articles, 41 book chapters and seven books or editions of books including, The Ketogenic Diet: A Treatment for Children and Others with Epilepsy, and the award-winning Seizures and Epilepsy in Childhood: A Guide. Zahava Turner, RD, CSP, LDN: Formerly head pediatric dietician at Long Island Jewish Medical Center she is now the Ketogenic Dietitian for the John Freeman Epilepsy Center at The Johns Hopkins University. She is responsible for all nutritional aspects for patients following the ketogenic diet, including education, follow up and menu planning. James E. Rubenstein, MD: Neurodevelopmental pediatrician on the full-time staff at Kennedy Krieger Institute and The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is a clinician working primarily in the fields of epilepsy, autism, and cerebral palsy and other complications of birth injury. His main role and goal is to provide comprehensive care and follow up for children with developmental disabilities utilizing the latest techniques in clinical evaluation and laboratory investigation/technology.
