Graeff , born in Heidelberg, Germany, experienced as a teenager 146 bombing raids on his hometown Hamburg. As a 15 year old school boy drafted to the anti aircraft he would shoot at night at the British and during the day at the American bombers. Surviving the war he studied mechanical engineering and developed in his company SOMOS energy efficient dryers and solar energy solutions covered by over 200 patents.
