Author Biography

Stewart D. Saxe, LL. B., CHRP, is an international partner with Baker & McKenzie LLP's Labour and Employment and Regulatory Law Department at the Toronto Office. Mr. Saxe has represented and advised clients in hundreds of collective agreement negotiations as well as appearing regularly at arbitrations and on labour relations board matters. He is certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Labour Law and as a Human Resources Professional by the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario. In additor to this text, Mr. Saxe is the author and co-author of numerous articles and books in the labour law field including Employment Contracts Handbook, Third Edition with Cheryl J. Elliott (Canada Law Book). Mr. Saxe was one of five lawyers featured in "Canadian Lawyer" magazine's cover article on leading negotiators in Canada (August 2006). In 2009 he was made an honorary member of the Ontario Medical Association following his work as their chief negotiator.
Brian McLean is a part-time mediator/arbitrator. His mediation practice is primarily centred around the resolution of wrongful dismissal lawsuits. He also frequently mediates disputes in labour relations, employment and various related areas such as human righs, workers' compensation, group and individual disability claims and pension issues. He has been a full-time Vice-Chair on the Ontario Labour Relations Board for more than 10 years. Immediately prior to joining the Board he was a sole practitioner mainly representing employees in wrongful dismissal claims. Before that he practised at Baker & McKenzie LLP as an employment and labour lawyer.
