Author Biography

James F. Scharnberg, M.B.H., grew up hunting gundog beagles and terriers in Arkansas. He is Master of the Skycastle French Hounds, a pack of crossbred Basset hounds in Chester County, Pennsylvania, where he tirelessly promotes farmland and open space preservation. He was founding president of the American Working Terrier Association and has written hunting articles, poetry and a book on Beagling and Basseting Sir Newton Rycroft was one of the foremost hound breeders of the latter half of the twentieth century. He was founder and Master of the Drummer Beagles from 1939 to 1963 and Master of the New Forest foxhounds from 1962 to 1984. He bred the most influential Welsh-cross stallion hound of the era, the renowned New Forest Medyg 1969
