Author Biography

Dean A. Haycock, Ph.D, is a science and medical writer based in New York. He earned a Ph.D in neuroscience at Brown University. His academic and pharmaceutical industry research has been published in the Journal of Neurochemistry, Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, and Brain. Research. His articles have appeared in WebMD, Bio World Today, BioWorld International, the Lancet Neurology, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Newton's Apple, Current Biology, BioMedNet, the Annals of Internal Medicine, the Gale Encyclopedias of Science and Mental Health, and papers of the Copley News Service. Elias K. Shaya, MD, is chief of psychiatry at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Baltimore. He is an instructor at the Johns Hopkins University and an assistant clinical professor of health care sciences at the George Washington University. He earned his MD degree at the American University of Beirut School of Medicine and is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for General and Geriatric Psychiatry. Dr. Shaya has received the award of Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He is a researcher in clinical psychiatry and brain imaging of neuropsychiatric disorders. He has been published in several medical publications, including the American Journal of Psychiatry. He lives in Baltimore, MD.
