In antithesis to traditional approaches to national security driven by the illusions of power and national egotism, this collection adopts what has become the dominant approach to security management in South East Europe today - an attempt to conceptualize and realize security in all of its aspects as a cooperative endeavour for the collective good.
This book explores transnational challenges that will dominate the international security agenda in the years to come, in South East Europe and beyond. Issues considered include management of weapons of mass destruction, cyber security, transnational organized crime and corruption, violent extremism and terrorism, energy security, maritime security, economic development, and demographic change.

Author Biography

Sharyl Cross is Professor in the College of International and Security Studies at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Germany and former Distinguished Professor of Political Science at the United States Air Force Academy, USA.
 
Savo Kentera is President of the Atlantic Council of Montenegro and a PhD candidate at the University of Belgrade, Serbia.
 
Radovan Vukadinovic is Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in International Relations, University of Zagreb, Croatia and President of the Atlantic Council in Croatia.

R. Craig Nation is Professor of Strategy at the US Army War College, Carlisle Barracks and former Chair in European Studies at the United States Marine Corps College, USA.
