Author Biography

Kenneth (Ken) Chan is a procurement and supply chain executive with over twenty years of consulting, industry, and engineering experience. Most recently, he was the chief procurement officer of Asplundh Tree Expert, a $4B privately owned company, and a management consultant at Deloitte and PwC. His journey has taken him through several industries, leading end-to-end transformation projects with an impact in the tens of millions of dollars for Fortune 500 companies.

Ken believes that deep value chain intelligence and supplier collaborations are the key to strategic success. The core of his work is developing skills and management infrastructure, helping organizations develop the right capabilities by leveraging the knowledge gained from analysis. He is a distinguished member of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) and has spoken at several industry forums about the benefits of should-cost models in the current competitive environment.

Mr. Chan holds an MBA with the highest distinction from the University of Michigan School of Business, a business degree from the University of London, and an electrical engineering degree from the University of Hong Kong. Hugo M. Breton is a business coach and former operations management consultant for McKinsey & Company, a product manager, and a passionate business writer. He has led lean and performance transformations for Fortune 500 companies in the Americas and sub-Saharan Africa. He is currently the cofounder of Octhopus, an outsourcing services startup, and the Player Services lead for Riot Games in Latin America.

Throughout his consulting and senior management experience, Hugo M. has valued the importance of the right team and setup to achieve sustainable change. Mr. Breton holds an MBA and an M.Eng. in manufacturing from the University of Michigan, as well as a B.S. in electromechanical engineering from the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City.
