Author Biography

Janet Whalley is a registered nurse who teaches new and expectant parents about childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care. She is the former executive director of the Childbirth Education Association of Seattle (Great Starts). Janet is also a breastfeeding specialist who provides telephone counseling and home visits for new mothers. Penny Simkin is a physical therapist who works with expectant parents as a childbirth educator, doula, and birth counselor. She also offers workshops for childbirth teachers, doulas, doctors, and nurses. Penny has written many books and articles and is a well-known speaker. She has eight grandchildren. Ann Keppler is a registered nurse with a master's degree in maternal-child nursing. She is a clinical nurse specialist for the Women's and Children's Service at Evergreen Healthcare. She is also a parish nurse. Ann has a private practice as a parent educator and consultant in Seattle. Once a week, she leads a mother-baby support group.
