Summary

Living as a Jewish refugee in New York City just after World War II, wealthy and religious Boris Makaver provides his home as a meeting place for fellow Polish Jews who have fled fascist Europe. Through inter-generational conversations in which the abandon of the elders clashes with the optimism of the youth, the lingering effects of the losses in the Holocaust and the influence of communism and godlessness emerge.

Author Biography

Isaac Bashevis Singer, premio Nobel de literatura en 1978, naci= en Radzymin (Polonia) en 1904 e inici= su carrera de escritor en Varsovia como corrector de puebas de la revista Pßginas literarias durante los a±os de entreguerras.
