Author Biography

Daniel Minoli, Managing Director, Econsultex, Inc., has 27 years of marquee corporate experience in technology and applications related to, and focused on, broadband enterprise and carrier communications, Metro Ethernet and next-gen optics, LAN technology, voice-over-IP, Internet and Intranet architectures and design, wireless LANs and WANs, e-commerce, and multimedia applications. Most recently, Mr. Minoli was founder and/or co-founder of several high-tech companies including InfoPort Communications Group, an Optical & Gigabit Ethernet Metro Carrier. In addition to a full-time corporate career, Mr. Minoli has taught graduate Optical Networking/datacom, Voice-over-IP, multimedia, and e-commerce at Stevens Institute, NYU, CMU, and Monmouth University as an adjunct professor for 18 years. He has been a technical analyst for Gartner Dataquest (Datapro) for 17 years. He has also been a consultant for numerous Venture Capitalists' high-tech investments (exceeding $125 million of investment). Mr. Minoli enjoys over 3,000 Web hits with his name (such as Google.com "Minoli Daniel"). He has been a columnist for trade periodicals (Computer World, NetworkWorld, Network Computing), has written dozens of technology reports for Datapro Corporation and the Gartner Group, and has written five full-fledged market reports for Probe Research Corporation. Mr. Minoli has spoken at over 75 conferences and published over 300 articles. He is often sought out for advice by companies, patent attorneys, and Venture Capitalists, and has been involved in mezzanine investments, providing in-depth reviews of technology and market baseline for high-tech companies in the multimedia, digital video, CTI/Java, VSAT, and telemedicine arenas.

Peter Johnson is a telecommunications business and technology professional. He has worked in a multitude of diverse positions within the industry, including those of independent consultant, business analyst, senior data engineer, lead project manager, senior product manager, and senior marketing manager. He has run nationwide projects involving over 200 locations, managed entire departments, helped launch new companies, and provided strategic research and analysis to help companies obtain additional funding. Mr. Johnson's experience in telecommunications has spanned across many companies in several different areas, including those of ILEC, RBOC, IXC, CLEC, start-up optical carrier, start-up optical equipment vendor, and multiple business and technology consulting firms. Mr. Johnson also currently holds a position on the board of directors of a small business and technology consulting company based in the Northeast.

Emma Minoli is CEO and Founder of Red Hill Consulting, a high-tech consultancy specializing in the area of Voice over IP, multimedia, and e-commerce technologies. Red Hill Consulting also focuses on marketing and PR/advocacy for these technologies. During the past six years clients have included companies such as AT&T, J.D. Edwards, Chase Manhattan Bank, InfoPort Communications Group, and EtherCarrier Communications. Ms. Minoli has co-authored several books including The Telecommunications Handbook--Digital Video Section (CRC Press/IEEE Press), 1999; Delivering Voice over IP Networks (John Wiley & Sons), 1998; Delivering Voice over Frame Relay and ATM (John Wiley & Sons), 1998; and The Web Commerce Technology Handbook (McGraw-Hill), 1997.
