Many people can't clearly describe these things, let alone find Bible verses that clearly explain them, but having a clear understanding of them is key to having lasting peace and an abundant life.

Scripture tells us that we are each made up of three parts: body, soul, and spirit.
"May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ" (1st Thessalonians 5:23 NIV)

In this book, we will look carefully at each of these three parts to see what they are and how God created them to function.
The BODY is of course the easiest to identify—it's simply our physical anatomy.
The SOUL and the SPIRIT, however, are a little more difficult to understand because they are immaterial. We need help from the Word of God to fully understand them.

A primary verse in this study is Hebrews 4:12 "The word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit."

Author Biography

RAPHAEL GIGLIO is the Founding and Lead Pastor of North Shore Fellowship in New Jersey and is ordained by The Christian and Missionary Alliance. He is a graduate of Pillar College with a degree in organizational leadership and has studied religion and journalism at Harvard and Rutgers Universities.

Raised in New Jersey, Raphael is the youngest of six sons in an Italian/Jewish family of twelve children. At age ten, Raphael was introduced to faith in Jesus as Messiah by his Jewish grandfather during the Jesus Movement of the early 70's.

As a teenager, he attended the discipleship training schools of both YWAM and Last Days Ministries in Lindale, Texas.

As a young adult, Raphael signed his first recording contract with the Christian music label Myrrh Records in Nashville, TN, and worked as a professional musician. After a career in songwriting, recording, and touring, he went on to become a manager for Capitol Records Nashville, working in various positions within the music industry.

Raphael's passion for teaching the Word of God led him to transition his focus to Christian ministry and church planting. He was eventually ordained as a pastor at New River Fellowship in Franklin, TN where he served for many years before being called back to the Northeast.

Raphael has been serving as a pastor for over twenty years and has a strong desire to help people understand the importance of the Word of God, life in the Spirit, and the Hebrew roots of Christianity.

Raphael and his wife Aly currently live at the New Jersey Shore with their twin daughters Abigail and Phoebe.
