Excerpts

Unifying Principles of the New Age In the New Age world, there is no single or specific person, place or document that can offer an explanation of the "New Age philosophy". Different viewpoints and beliefs have been embraced, rearranged and discarded as each of us evolved in our own manner. There are, however, certain unifying principles. Here are some of them: ? There is no central belief system or doctrine; each individual's journey is deeply personal, and there are many paths up the mountain. Spirituality and our relationship to God is an individual and private journey. No one other person, group or institution can define our Spiritual relationship to the Universe. Others can assist, enlighten, inform and educate, but they cannot find God for us. Spiritual reality is a transcendental reality; it is subjective and it is deeply personal. ? There is "Universal Truth" and all reality is "God". All things created by God and in the Universe are precious to God and are to be honored. ? God is variously thought of as "God", "Universal Energy", "Universal Source Energy", "the Source", "the Universe", "the Cosmic Mind", "One", "the Universal Mind" etc. ? Everything is energy, including God, people, animals, plants, thoughts and feelings. There is limited need to create God in man's image, as God is abstract and energetic. ? Energy vibrates, and vibrates at different rates. Source Energy or God is the highest vibration. ? Life has a purpose. Every thing, and every experience is connected through Universal Source energy (God) and there is Universal synchronicity; there are no accidents and no coincidence as everything happens for a reason. ? Consciousness persists after death. ? Negative expressions or imbalanced issues within the self and/or in relationships are destined to be repeated until a positive and balanced expression is achieved. This is the process of reincarnation. ? Personal experience, including intuition and other psychic experience is valued; therefore relativity and subjectivity are acknowledged and embraced. ? Love is the unifying force and our ultimate goal is to raise our personal vibration through love, and through trust in the Universe. ? "Positive" emotions such as love, compassion, and gratitude are on one end of the emotional continuum, while "negative" emotions, such as anger, fear, and revenge are on the opposite end of the continuum. Indulging in negative emotion is not conducive to good health. ? Spiritual, emotional and physical healing can be enhanced and increased through alternate methodologies such as Reiki, Qi Gong, yoga, acupuncture, herbal therapy, aroma therapy, affirmations, positive thinking, etc. ? The total person is more than the sum of the individual parts, and health is achieved when mind, body and spirit work together and in harmony. ? Information about ourselves and the world around us can be accessed through methodologies such as numerology, astrology, tarot, and through various and other psychic avenues. ? We are full participants in the creation of our reality, and our thoughts and emotions are significant to our creation; therefore, love and gratitude are essential. ? All life is choosing. ? We have free will. The Ten Foot Pole Department If we are interested in entering the world of the New Age, and in exploring our spiritual relationship to ourselves, to others and to God through this avenue, there are issues of which we should be aware. This is especially true if we are seeking out such things as intuitive or psychic readings, energy healings, group meditations or channeling. The New Age world is an unregulated world. This gives us the freedom to find our personal path to God, but it also opens the door for exploitation and manipulation. The good and the bad news is that there is no one to tell us how to think, what to do, or what choices to make; but there is also no one to protect us. We must be responsible for ourselves, our choices, our decisions and our lives. If we make a good choice we own it, but we do so, as well, if we make a bad choice. We must keep an open and observant mind regarding human practitioners. While there is occasional fraudulence, most of those working within these concepts are making an honest and sincere effort to bring accuracy into their endeavor. Information received from Spirit is correct. The practitioner's interpretation, however, may be imperfect and/or incomplete as we are filtering it through our own earthly experience. The following is my personal ten-foot pole list: ? Renunciation of your current spiritual expression need not be a prerequisite to adopting New Age philosophies or practicing within them. ? If you find a concept distressing or unnerving and believe that you cannot agree with it, do not embrace it. If it is right for you, you will find your way to it in your own time. Trust yourself. ? Never work with anyone with whom you are not comfortable. If you are being intimidated, if you are being manipulated or coerced in any manner, if you observe negative techniques, if the work goes against your personal beliefs, if things are presented with secrecy and will not be explained to your satisfaction, do not work with that person or with that group. ? Avoid any form of manipulation, including the attempt to manipulate other people's thoughts, lives, or belief systems; do not do it and do not allow it. Again, it if makes you uncomfortable you may not want to participate. ? Do what you want to do, but do not harm anyone and this includes yourself. Never attempt to create something at the expense of someone else. ? Never ever threaten another person, Soul or a Spiritual Guardian. ? Never seek revenge – revenge is anti-healing in all directions. If you are learning about meditation, channeling, energy healing or anything of this nature, especially do not use this psychic or energetic avenue to seek revenge. ? When you attempt to create a negative experience for someone else, you also create one for yourself, as that which you send out comes back to you. As ye reap, so shall ye sow, and so creating with a mind to the positive, the compassionate, the generous and the balanced is always a good idea. ? Don't make "deals" with other Souls or with your Spiritual Guardians. You can ask for what you want, or need, or desire without offering yourself or that which you value as a sacrifice. ? Always ask that what you are bringing into your life is for your highest good; do not try to control it but let it come. ? When manifesting, use the words "I intend to receive", or "I gift myself" or "I draw into my life", or any other phrase that expresses your desire in a positive manner. Never use negative words or negative concepts; do not state what you don't want, rather state what you want (example: do not say "I don't want to be poor" but rather say "Prosperity abounds for me"). Express gratitude for what you already have.
