Summary

The Oakland Raiders have not only had three Super Bowl champions since their inception with the upstart American Football League in 1960, but also some of the most colorful characters in football history. It starts at the top with maverick owner Al Davis, called "The Geinus"--with admiration by some and derision by others. The Raiders have been a team known for playing as hard off the field as on, led by the likes of Kenny "Snake" Stabler, John "The Tooz" Matuszak, and "Big Ben" Davidson. They also practically have their own wing at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, with legends such as Jim Otto, Gene Upshaw, Art Shell, George Blanda, Willie Brown, and Dave Casper.

Excerpts

Immaculate Rejections

The Oakland Raiders have a history with Instant Replay, and it's all bad.
The Raiders were involved in what many observers feel was the first game in which National Football League officials used Instant Replay to determine the outcome of a play, and ultimately a game.
The Raiders were involved in the game that is considered the flashpoint for the NFL instituting its first Instant Replay policy.
The Raiders were involved in probably the most controversial game in NFL history in which Instant Replay overturned a call on the field.
The Raiders lost all three decisions and all three games in the NFL playoffs.
Those incidents have come to be known as the Immaculate Reception, Rob Lytle's Fumble That Wasn't, and the Tuck Play. ...
