Summary

The 'promises¿ and objectives of Tissue engineering proposed some 30 years ago have not delivered the numerous products and synthetic therapies for most of the tissue requirements of diseased or traumatised tissues. This may be due to the lack of standardisation during the induction, development, and maintenance of differentiation within cells and tissue matrices under in vitro conditions.
