Author Biography

Maria DiVencenzo (pen name Maria D. Wilkes) is the author of Little House in Brookfield, Little Town at the Crossroads, and Little Clearing in the Woods; all novels that depict the childhood of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s mother, Caroline. This is her first picture book. She lives in Clarence, New York. Elaine Verstraete is the illustrator of numerous children’s books, including Many Ways to Be a Soldier, Germ Hunter, and Shipwreck Search. She teaches illustration at the Rochester Institute of Technology. She lives in Middlesex, New York.
