Summary

Women have been taking to the air almost form the start, despite the full force of convention and prejudice against them. Stars of the Sky celebrates the wildly daring, the pioneering, and implacably determined women who have made their mark on aviation history. Fifty illustrated profiles recount the accomplishments of women who were the first to fly solo around the world, pilot a Thunderbolt, manage an airline, design aircraft, as well as become flight surgeons, daredevil sky writers, Eskimo Bush pilot, air traffic controllers, and Air racers. With a foreword by Stephen and Debbie Coonts, themselves keen fliers, this is a title sure to appeal to anyone interested in the founding of aviation history.
