Author Biography

Steve Tobin is best known for his bronze-cast root sculptures. He created what would become the first memorial for 9/11, Trinity Roots. Tobin's works are represented in collections including the American Center and Finair, Helsinki; the Boca Raton Museum of Art, Florida; King Faisal's Palace, Saudi Arabia; the Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Lausanne, Switzerland; the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the Retretti Museum, Punkaharju, Finland; and The White House, Washington, D.C The artist currently works and resides in Bucks County, PA.
David Houston is a curator and art historian. He was the Director of Curatorial at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas, and is now the Director of the Bo Bartlett Center, College for the Arts, Columbus State University, Georgia.
Phoebe Hoban is a New York-based journalist. From 1985 to the present, she has covered culture and the arts for publications, including The New York Times, New York Magazine, and The New York Observer.
