Author Biography

A Strange Breed of Folks is a story that only someone like Mel Lavine could write. A journalist for more than half a century, he has written a provocative and entertaining picture of an occupation that has sometimes been called the world's second oldest profession.Mel Lavine, a native of Boston, is a graduate of the University of Maine and the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University. A journalist in a career spanning more than fifty years he has been a newspaper reporter, a TV news anchor, and a writer and producer for NBC News and CBS News in New York. He lives in Berkeley, California.
