Author Biography

Penny Sturt is an independent trainer, consultant and registered social worker. Following her advanced social work training which developed her interest in supervision, Penny has been delivering supervision training as an associate with In-Trac Training and Consultancy Ltd. Penny has used her knowledge, skills and experience in supervision to work with early years providers in adapting supervision for early years settings. Penny has a keen interest in supporting practitioners to deliver high quality, compassionate and stimulating care to young children and sees supervision as an effective method to do this. She is also a custodial trustee and a safeguarding adviser to early years providers. Jane Wonnacott is director of professional practice at In-Trac Training and Consultancy Ltd. She qualified as a social worker in 1979 and for over 20 years has been working as an independent trainer and consultant. In this role she has worked with numerous statutory and voluntary organisations developing and delivering training as well as working on other projects including practice audits, policy development and serious case reviews. Jane has a long-standing interest in supervision and has developed and delivered supervision training courses both in the UK and abroad. She co-wrote, with Tony Morrison, the Children’s Workforce Development Council’s guide and training programme for the supervisors of social workers in the first three years of their professional development. Since Tony’s death in 2010, In-Trac has continued to develop these training materials and from 2009–2013 trained over 9,000 supervisors working within health and social care.
