These are some of the questions that Moving Design#x19;s principal and co-founder, Rick Valicenti, asked 24 interdisciplinary senior and graduate design students at the University of Illinois in a thought-provoking program called Tabula Rasa, Exploring and Designing the Experience of (e)Reading, which is the Latin for #x1C;blank slate.#x1D; It is the idea that individuals are born without built-in mental content and that their knowledge comes from experience and perception. After six weeks of intensive research into different media platforms, both old and new, and testing out and discovering all the iPad has to offer, the students were asked to create a blueprint for the new book experience on the iPad.
