Author Biography

Born in Jamaica in 1954, Rustie moved to the UK when she was 5. After leaving school she trained to be a chef and went on to own her own Caribbean restaurant, where she was discovered. Her bubbly, infectious laugh first burst on to our screens when she became the chef on ‘Good Morning Britain’.Her restaurant was frequented by celebrities the world over – including Muhammad Ali.Her first cookery book, ‘Rustie Lee’s Caribbean Cookbook’ came out in the 1980s and now sells for ten times the original price! ‘A Taste of the Caribbean’ is her first book since then. Her career started in cookery and singing. She has gone on to appear in cabaret; present shows both on TV and radio; to act in TV and films and become a politician. Her larger than life personality and her amazing career have earned her a place in all our hearts.
