Summary

In an uncertain, competitive and dynamic environment, the capability to create and apply new knowledge represents one of the main sources of sustained competitive advantage. Intellectual capital stocks, as well as their different manifestations, play a critical role in the effective development of a firm's technological innovation.

Author Biography

Gregorio Martin de Castro is Associate Professor of Business Administration at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. He holds an expert Diploma in Intellectual Capital and Knowledge Management from IUEE, Spain, and Insead, France. He has been a Fellow at Harvard University, USA, and the University of Manchester, UK. He is the author and co-author of several papers on Intellectual Capital and Knowledge Management.
Miriam Delgado Verde is Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. She was a Fellow at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research, University of Manchester, UK, from 2008 to 2009. She is the author and co-author of several papers, books and chapters on Intellectual Capital and Technological Innovation.
Pedro Lopez Saez is Associate Professor of Business Administration at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. He was a Fellow at Real Complutense de Madrid-Harvard University from 2004 to 2005. He is the author and co-author of several papers on Intellectual Capital and Knowledge Management.
Jose Emilio Navas Lopez is Professor of Business Administration at Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. He is the author and co-author of several books and papers on Technology Management, Strategy and Knowledge Management. He is also the main researcher on several research projects, and leads the Complutense Research Group on `Strategy, Knowledge and Innovation in Firms'.
