Summary

This study provides a theory of Bible translation known as Optimal Equivalence. The author provides a general description of the theory as well as a formal description of Biblical Hebrew grammar and syntax based on a text-linguistic model of the language employing transformations at the phrase, clause, and text levels.

Author Biography

James D. Price was Professor of Hebrew and Old Testament at Temple Baptist Seminary in Chattanooga, Tennessee, from 1972-2005, and Academic Dean from 2000 to 2005.
