Summary

The following is an abstract of "Things Are Not as They Seem." We begin to consider that Christianity may be the answer to our most ultimate questions. We see that faith is crucial and that we can have it for entirely logical and rational reasons. We squarely face the vital importance of eternal life. We compare other religions. We see that science does not rule out the supernatural and that, in fact, modern physics makes it easier to feature. We learn why science cannot find the Prime Mover. (The Person or Power which initiated the existence of everything that is.) We see that there is very little knowledge in the world, but much belief B that we have great knowhow but little understanding. We imagine what kind of God would be most likely to exist and consider what we would expect Him to be like as a human. We find that the God of the Bible fits our ideas in both cases and that the effect Jesus had on history is what we might expect if God came to earth. We note the difficulty God might have in trying to reveal Himself to us while at the same time allowing us to think for ourselves. We think big and discover that things are not as they seem, that our senses do not show us ultimate reality. We try to think timelessly because it appears likely that the truth we seek is independent from space-time. We find that mind is primary in the universe, particularly relative to matter. We begin to think in terms of correlating theology, particularly Christianity, with philosophy, physics, and history.
