Lincoln, un muchacho de 14 años, era jugador de baloncesto y estaba en el segundo año de la secundaria. Se había mudado del distrito Mission de San Francisco, un barrio totalmente urbano, a Sycamore, un suburbio con calles llenas de hermosos árboles. También se cambió de colegio y ahora asistía a la secundaria Colón. Al principio a Lincoln le gustó la tranquilidad del nuevo vecindario, pero de pronto comenzó a verlo y mirarlo con otros ojos. Fue entonces que la historia de este muchacho mexicoamericano cambió: tenía problemas en su escuela nueva y con su entrenador de baloncesto, un hombre lleno de prejuicios. Extrañaba su vieja escuela y el mural donde aparecían muchachos morenos, negros y amarillos abrazándose en actitud amistosa y, por sobretodo, extrañaba a sus amigos. Recomendado para muchachitos de 11 a 14 años.
