Summary

Under the theme of community translation as a social activity and its possible consequences, this volume consolidates the developments to date and covers the latest initiatives while addressing pertinent issues arising from the blurred boundary between professionals and nonprofessionals. Arguing that community translation is far too complex a phenomenon to be treated simply as a dilettante, anti-professional movement, it portends far-reaching implications for translators and translation trainers alike through dynamically changing work environments and points to new and exciting areas of research in translation studies.

Author Biography

Minako O’Hagan is a senior lecturer affiliated with the Center for Translation and Textual Studies at the Dublin City University in Ireland. She is the author of The Coming Industry of Teletranslation.
