Author Biography

Frederick Crews taught English at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1958 until his retirement in 1994. He is the author of eleven previous books and has edited five others, including The Critics Bear It Away, which was nominated for the National Book Critics Circle Award and won a 1992 PEN prize for the best book of previously uncollected essays. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Professional Advisory Board of the False Memory Syndrome Foundation.
