Author Biography

Dr. Tony Bates is a clinical psychologist with more than 30 years of experience. He served as principal clinical psychologist at St. James Hospital in Dublin and established the Trinity College Dublin’s master of science in cognitive psychotherapy. In 2007 he helped establish Headstrong, the National Centre for Youth Mental Health. He wrote biweekly for the Irish Times for over seven years. Currently he is writing a weekly column to explore "living mindfully." Dr. Bates has appeared on many radio television programmes on youth mental health, depression, and suicide.

Paul Gilbert is the lead pastor of Four Oaks Community Church in Tallahassee, Florida. He graduated from the University of Tennessee and earned a master of divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson. He also has a PhD in marriage and family therapy from Florida State University. Paul Gilbert lives in northeast Tallahassee with his wife, Susan, and four children.
