Summary

Janusz Korczak was one of the most original thinkers on children. He brings a humane, compassionate voice to help us honor children as independent beings worthy of utmost respect. Korczak won recognition during his lifetime for his work as a writer, doctor, psychologist and philosopher. He is probably most well known, however, for me manner in which he died. The principal of two Jewish orphanages in the Warsaw ghetto, Korczak refused to abandon the children under his care when the Nazi's took them to the concentration camp Treblinka. His timeless words of compassion speak to us today.
