Summary

This book was birthed out of a desire to give voice to our children, whose perspectives and experiences are often overlooked. For Love of Children guided six middle school students through a journey of self-reflection; to express their thoughts and emotions around the Black Lives Matter movement.
Six brave middle school students explore their own experiences with the Black Lives Matter movement as their individual stories interact in the historical Rock Creek Park of Washington, DC. They share personal reflections of friendship, freedom, kindness, representation, and humanity from their point of view. They learn that they have the power to make a difference and make a statement through their actions as well as artistic expression.

Our mission is to provide educational support and services beyond the classroom to help students succeed from second grade through college and career. I gained early business experience producing T-shirts for non-profit organizations and arts while still in high school. This experience gave me valuable insight into graphic design, and clients' needs and desires. I went to school to earn my associate's degree in the Visual Arts, and a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design. After graduating from college, I worked as a freelance graphic artist for promotional companies such as Metro Boys, Extreme Media, Galaxy graphics, and WVEE Radio (Frank and Wanda in the Morning), all located in Atlanta, Georgia. This experience provided useful business and professional contacts within the design and shirt sublimation technology industry that I currently leverage. After 8 years of freelancing, I utilized my experience, and business contacts to launch an apparel company called, Soulsimplicity.com.
After launching Soulsimplicity, I continue to freelance and currently work with Victory tailgate, a company that makes licensed apparel and cornhole boards, located in Orlando FL.
