Summary

The book is comprised of a series of questions about the reader's website, with answers averaging 3-5 pages in length. The answers will be liberally illustrated and will contain short prescriptions at the end - action points - with comments about what it will take to do the job: need to hire? Could be learned easily, etc. Each question will also have a rating on a scale of 1 - 5 showing how important it is to the welfare of the site, allowing people to pick and choose where to spend their time and money. Questions will be divided into topic chapters (such as Domain Names, Content, Design, etc.), and they will be labeled and "indexed" according to several sub-checklists. For example, there will be a Search Engine Optimization list, so that a person could quickly find all questions in the book that related to SEO issues. One of the Appendixes at the back of the book will contain instructions for actions people will need to take in order to answer some of the questions - such as how to view source code in your browser (these actions would then be highlighted in the text so they would know to look in the appendix). Unique to the book, the author advises the reader how often a task needs to be repeated: daily, weekly, monthly, in order to maintain the site. The book will cover; Domain Names, hosting, Design & Layout, Construction, Content Quality, Content Management, User Experience, Marketing and Promotion (a unique, value-add to the book), Search Engine Visibility, Statistics and Security, Appendices: Basic Concepts and Tools for Understanding Your Site, Online Resources, and a Glossary. The instructional video will tackle, in a step-by-step fashion some of the more complex and visually oriented topics in the book.
