Author Biography

James M. McPherson is George Henry Davis Professor of American History at Princeton University. His other books include Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era, winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 1989; Ordeal by Fire: The Civil War and Reconstruction; and Abraham Lincoln and the Second American Revolution. He lives in Princeton, New Jersey.
