He currently serves as pastor of Franktown Church on Virginia's Eastern Shore and as a summer adjunct lecturer at Southern Methodist University. Known for his storytelling and preaching, Joyner has been a featured preacher on the nationally-broadcast Protestant Hour radio program. He frequently writes curriculum for the United Methodist Publishing House. Joyner received a grant from the Shared Mission Focus for Young People to develop the Restless Hearts program and has led it with the Wesley Foundation group at the University of Virginia.
