The John Hancock Center in Chicago (1966-70) was designed by Bruce Graham and engineered by Fazlur Kahn of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill; this cross-braced tower is a landmark on the Chicago skyline. Marcel Breuer's granite sheathed Whitney Museum of American Art (1964-66), with its inverted ziggurat profile and moat like sculpture court, is an icon of the New York streetscape.
