His attention to detail and knowledge of both spirits, wine & mixology, make his book a must read for anyone interested in the beverage industry. Diego Meraviglia 4th level certified Sommelier AIS Vice-President, Fourcade & Hecht Wine Selections David Vancil is not just a bartender but an Alchemist who puts the true meaning of Spirits in every drink! -J.D. Amoro Estrill -Artist I've never experienced bar service at the level of David Vancil's-he is THE BEST. There is a reason he is called The Sensei! When he is behind the bar, it s like a magician with his cape on. You don't even see his hands moving then abracadabra you've got a drink in your hand. And it's either your favorite drink, or your new favorite drink! That's how he works. And he brings this level of service and integrity each and every night. I would take anything David says straight to the bank when it comes to the history of bar service, or the modernization of it. -Benjamin Yiapan-Fitness Consultant

Excerpts

Why Be a Bartender? Why not!? Unless your union there is not a lot of job security and no insurance. You're the little guy until you pay your dues. You have a lot of "Bar Politics" to deal with sometimes. The biggest change to most is that you become a night person You have to realize what your getting into but . . . You make cash, connections, and have some unbelievably incredibly good times. You will posses a skill. A skill with no need for expensive tools. With your skills you could up and go to another country and find work. You could open your own pub, bar, or nightclub. You could be working in Las Vegas doing shows, New York in some swanky jazz bar, a strip club in Chicago, some little dive bar in L.A., a cabaret in Tokyo, a dance club in Waikiki, or even some little beach bar in the Bahamas. Wherever you end up, I wish you the best of luck. I've had so many fond memories directly or indirectly related to bartending! I can't count the times I've woken up from an unbelievable night and or morning thinking, "I wonder what is going to happen today!?" Blowjobs, birthday shots, body shots, and just plain craziness. Just when you think you've seen it all . . . Why be a bartender? I don't know. You'll have to decide for yourself.
