Summary

In Evelyn Eigner's Wilbur's Birthday Surprise, all the animals in the jungle are well aware that tomorrow is Wilbur the Zebra's birthday. How is that so you ask? Because Wilbur is a very happy animal with lots of friends, and so he spends much of the day before hi big day gallivanting about and making sure that all of his pals will be attending his upcoming party. Unfortunately, Wilbur loses his enthusiasm when something strange happens. He seems to have lost his stripes, which of course upsets him very much. Not only has he lost his stripes; he seems to have also lost all his friends! In the end, everything turns out perfectly when his friends shout "Happy Birthday" and awaken Wilbur out of a sound sleep. It is only then that he realizes that his stripes (and all of his buddies) are right where they belong.
