Summary

"Wild Beau and Her Kittens" is the third book in Author Peggy Krause' "The Kitty Tales Trilogy." Poor Beau is a scruffy, hungry cat living in the forest preserve trying to take care of her two tiny kittens all on her own. It's very challenging being a cat without an owner or a warm, dry house to live in. The cat friends, Soupy, Lila, Lola, Puff Puff, and Spider Man stumble across Beau one day while on a trip to the forest preserve to find Soupy's foster raccoon-son, Ferdinand. Seeing how thin and battered Beau is from living outside, the cats make it their project to help Beau and her kittens in every way they can. The first book in the Trilogy, "Finding My Molly," centers around a cat named Soupy, who is not permitted to go outdoors. One day the front door is accidentally left open and Soupy cannot resist seeing what it's like outside. No sooner does he decide that being outside is wonderful, when he is chased by a monstrous cat-eating beast (a large dog). Soupy runs so far trying to escape the monster that he gets lost and must live in a hollow log in the forest. He must form a plan to find his way back home to little Molly, his beloved human-kitten. The next day, though, Soupy finds a tiny, helpless, orphaned raccoon in the forest. Soupy is now torn; raise the baby, named Ferdinand, or find his way home? He can't do both at the same time. He knows his Molly would never abandon a helpless baby, so neither will he. The second book, "The Scruffy Little Crumb-Grabbers," centers around a chubby cat named Spider Man who acquired his name from his owner Marcy's two little grandchildren, Ruby and Frankie. Marcy spoils Spider Man with the nicest cat toys and treats she can find, so he has a very happy life ... until one day when Ruby and Frankie have to move in with Marcy. Whenever the children see Spider Man, they squeal in delight and instantly chase him. Their "loving" hugs cause Spider Man's eyes to bulge out of his head, so he is forced to spend much of his days running from the children. One day, Ruby and Frankie's mischievous ways get them into a dangerous situation, and they desperately need Spider Man's help. He is the only one there who can save them. Will Spider Man rise above his dislike for the children and come to their rescue? All three books are written from the 5 main cat characters' perspective, and children enjoy seeing the world anew through a cat's eyes. Children also love the books because the author writes them to be funny and fast-paced. Parents and teachers highly recommend The Kitty Tales Trilogy because of the many messages of kindness throughout the stories.
