Summary

This new edition discusses the ways that global news media report urgent overseas news events such as economic chaos and decline in Southeast Asia, civil wars in Africa, and continued political instability in Russia as well as Kosovo and Bosnia.

Hachten discusses how international communication has had a direct effect on world events. Whether discussing the current Japanese economy or the westernization of Eastern media, the author covers these events in-depth and examines how they have affected our new global media exchange.

Extensive information on the Internet and global television also is found in this edition. This book will stimulate poignant and heated debate for students of mass media, international relations, and political science.
