Summary

This is the memoir of a West Point graduate and former U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Beret) officer who served in Vietnam. On 17 June 1967 during an early morning mortar attack on the Dak To Special Forces camp he suffered injuries that resulted in the amputation of both of his legs. Following his recovery, which took more than a year and included a severe bout of post-traumatic-stress disorder (PTSD), Clark obtained an MBA from Southern Methodist University and gained employment as a personal financial assistance to Ross Perot. Clark formed a personal connection with Mr. Perot that continues to this day. In 1970, due to a recurrence of PTSD, Clark left Mr. Perot's employ. He later worked as a portfolio manager at Republic National Bank. This was followed by a number of public service positions both for the state of Texas and the United States. In 2003 Mr. Clark founded the Combat Faith Ministry, a lay ministry to veterans. Clark's story of growth and fufillment following the tragedy of his wartime wounds is an inspirational testament to the resilience of the human spirit.

Author Biography

Vietnam veteran Allen B. Clark Jr. is founder of the Combat Faith Ministry. He served in the federal government as an assistant secretary in the Department of Veterans Affairs and later director of the National Cemetery System from 1989 to 1993.
