Excerpts

Preface The second edition ofCommunication for the Workplaceis the outgrowth of user experiences in the learning process as observed and assessed by the authors. This revision continues to challenge learners to develop mastery of language skills and written communications. Its "no-frills" approach helps learners get right to the core of basic problems in written communications. From the very beginning of the book, users are involved in the learning process with drills, reinforcement exercises, case problems, and assessment activities. Learners are encouraged to develop their critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. The text helps users progress from a novice level of writing to a stage at which they are more confident in expressing their ideas. This user-friendly text-workbook can be used individually, in cooperative group learning, and in traditional classroom settings. It is an excellent reference guide because it has an abundance of information on English usage and business writing. The goal of this book is to make each user a better and more successful communicator. The authors thank the colleagues, students, and support staff who have made helpful suggestions and comments.
