Author Biography

Michael Joseph Smith, M.D., M.S.C.E., is a pediatrician and assistant professor of Pediatrics at University of Louisville School of Medicine. He has done research on media coverage of the MMR-autism controversy and immunization rates. Dr. Smith earned his M.D. at Columbia, received a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases, and earned an M.S. in Clinical Epidemiology. Laurie Bouck is an award-winning writer whose work has appeared in Parenting and Pregnancy, patient education materials, and elsewhere.
