Author Biography

Sam Brannen is a Senior Software Consultant with over 12 years' experience and co-founder of Swiftmind GmbH, a software consulting agency in Zurich, Switzerland. At Swiftmind Sam helps international clients achieve best practices in agile software development, architecture, design, implementation, and testing of enterprise Java applications using the Spring Framework, OSGi, and a plethora of open source technologies. In his consulting role, Sam most enjoys leading work shops, code reviews, coaching, and training clients.

Sam is a popular speaker at conferences on Java, Spring, and OSGi. He is also an active core committer for the Spring Framework, the author of the Spring TestContext Framework, and was previously a member of the SpringSource dm Server development team.

Over the years, Sam has helped clients build applications in various business sectors ranging from e-commerce to banking, retail, automotive, and social communities. When not in front of his computer, Sam enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Tareq Abedrabbo is a Senior Consultant and the founder of GoPragmatic. Tareq has strong experience in the Telecom industry where he has been working on various aspects of enterprise applications including architecture, web development, and data integration. Tareq has been an enthusiastic and often early adopter of the Spring Framework and portfolio projects since 2004. He is currently a committer on the Spring Web Services project and more recently has been contributing to the Spring-WS Grails plugin.

Boris Burgstaller is a Senior Software Consultant and co-founder of Swiftmind GmbH in Zurich, Switzerland. Boris began using the Spring Framework in 2004 and has worked on many enterprise Java and OSGi projects in the web environment, for the financial, governmental and industrial sectors as well as in information retrieval.

As a Spring enthusiast most of his projects are based on the Spring Framework and other open source technologies. Boris also loves to speak about Spring and Java at conferences. He is a pragmatic programmer and enjoys sharing his approach to modern software development with his clients, co-workers, and other project members.

Russ Miles is a co-founder and CEO at OpenCredo, a software development best practice consultancy based in the UK. At OpenCredo Russ specializes in enterprise software development, working with many international clients to 'up their game'. Russ also regularly speaks at international conferences on subjects ranging from Agile Software Development to Cloud Computing. As well as consultancy and speaking engagements, Russ is a popular trainer and enjoys most working with clients to create bespoke workshops that maximize learning for the given organization.

To ensure he has as little free time as possible, Russ also leads and contributes to a number of open source projects. Russ is a self-confessed polyglot programmer (and proud of it!) and as such can often be found contributing to an Objective C or Python project in addition to Java projects. It's all about using the right tool for the job.

When he can be dragged away from his laptop, Russ enjoys playing guitar and being a husband and father, though not always necessarily in that order.
