Summary

Destination Korea is an eye witness account of the daily life of servicemen in the Korean War. It consists of letters written by a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army to his wife while he was stationed in Okinawa and Korea during the Korean War.

Author Biography

Dana Abbott Curtis was born and raised in Worcester, Massachusetts. As a young man he served as a Marine in World War II. He married Mildred Rose Belair in 1946, and they had two children: Bonita G. Willand and Robert J. Curtis. In 1950 he was stationed with the U.S. Army in Okinawa, and later that same year he served as an infantryman and an engineer for the U.S. Army in the Korean War Jennifer R. Willand Dillard is the granddaughter of Dana Abbott Curtis. She too grew up in Massachusetts. However, she later lived in Connecticut and Montana where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Public Administration, respectively. She now resides in South Carolina where she is a Visiting Instructor at Clemson University and completing her doctorate in Political Science
