According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 190,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year; more than 27,000 men die of the disease yearly. In fact, prostate cancer is the second most common cancer for men after skin cancer. Because of the irreversible and serious side effects of surgery such as incontinence, impotence, and secondary infection, many men are seeking less invasive treatments like proton therapy to cure their prostate cancer.
